Outdoor Events vs. Mother Nature - When a Free Event in Charlotte, NC Gets Cancelled
Well if you've ever been involved with producing outdoor events, you know the inevitable concern that forever lingers is our dear friend mother nature. Weather is always a concern when planning and executing outdoor festivals or events, and unfortunately this fall mother nature got the best of us. Hurricane Florence decided to grace the Carolinas with it's presence, and along with it came some pretty severe weather resulting in hundreds of thousands of people without power across North and South Carolina.
While we hope that everyone remained safe and as much out of harms was as possible, we're also very disappointed to have had to cancel the finale weekend of Live on the Green 2019. We had an amazing line up of local and national touring artists all for FREE on what we hoped to be an early fall weekend in Charlotte, NC. The free Live on the Green concert series finale was to feature the Black Lillies, Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen, Seth Walker, Dangermuffin, and local favorites Coddle Creek, Maya Beth Atkins and The Flatland Tourists.
The equally unfortunate result in this is that due to contractual obligations and conflicting schedules, there's no option to reschedule the event. It comes down to the risk in producing outdoor events, and sometimes you win some and others you lose with mother nature. Here's to looking ahead to 2019!
